First aid requirements in schools

First aid is a requirement in all workplaces under the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016.

What training and equipment is required

Schools must have first aid kits available and have trained first aid staff. You can work out how many first-aiders your school may need on the WorkSafe website.

Education outside the classroom first aid requirements

As well as having first aiders on site at school, a trained first aider must be available on any Education outside the classroom (EOTC) activities.
