What the out-of-hours music and arts programme grant is for

This is funding for schools and kura that run an out-of-hours music and art (OOHMA) programme.

The programme provides professional tuition for children in Years 1 to 8. Some secondary schools run this programme for primary aged students in their area.

The grant covers the costs of administrative support for the programme. We pay it in your school or kura’s operational funding entitlement.

For more information about the programme, including details about how it is administered, see the guide.

How we work out the out-of-hours music and arts programme grant

Each year, the regional offices allocate host schools and kura in the OOHMA programme a set number of funded teaching hours.

We pay you an annual grant, based on your allocated hours, in the first quarterly operational funding instalment of the year.

The grant is for employing tutors and coordinators. School staff members can't provide tuition under this grant.

Our operational funding documents have the current rate.
